Who am I?
Hello! My name is Sophia Gaunt. I am a native Texan, born and raised in Austin.
Growing up, I was a montessori kid, which greatly affected both my personal views and teaching philosophy. I learned about the importance of self-determination and choice in education.
I spent the former years of my adolescence in public schools in suburban Austin, TX before transferring to Interlochen Arts Academy for my senior year of high school!
After graduating in 2020, I took a year off due to the global pandemic to help take care of my grandparents who ended up moving in with my family. In 2021 I began my upper education career at Boston University, where I entered as a Soprano voice major. After just a month in the program, I realized that teaching and helping others was much more important to me than advancing my personal career, so I switched to the BM Music Education Track.
Through BU’s Music Education program, I was able to fall back in love with the joy of music. Learning different teaching philosophies and methodologies kept me entertained throughout my time there.
I enjoy singing- classical, pop, theatre, rock, rnb and more!- and learning new instruments. My favorite instruments to play are piano, trombone, and ukulele.
